Synopsis
Comfort Read follows Kit Forrest, a former elementary-school teacher who owns Sawyer’s Books, a beloved but deteriorating bookstore in the small town of Cedar Falls. Eighteen months earlier, Kit proposed to Emerson, his boyfriend of fourteen years, inside the shop. Emerson rejected him, ended their relationship and left town, unaware that Kit had spent his savings buying the bookstore as a surprise for their future together. Kit remains humiliated by the very public breakup, but he has grown to love running Sawyer’s. Unfortunately, the former firehouse has dangerous structural, electrical and plumbing problems. When the bank refuses him a repair loan, Kit faces the possibility that the city will condemn the building. His situation changes when famous actor Sage Ballard comes to Sawyer’s to film a promotional interview. Sage has been a celebrity since childhood, but his reputation has recently deteriorated because of arguments, cancelled projects and hostile encounters with the press.
