Synopsis
From Beijing, With Love follows Daniel Wu, a twenty-five-year-old IT administrator living in Amsterdam, whose carefully controlled life suddenly collapses. After accidentally deleting important systems at the bank where he works, Daniel is placed on leave. On the same day, he discovers that his boyfriend, Taylor, has cheated on him. Hurt, humiliated and desperate to prove that he can be spontaneous, Daniel drunkenly books a flight to Beijing, where his best friend Poppy is temporarily living. When Daniel arrives, however, Poppy reveals that she is away for work and will not return for another week. Daniel is left alone in a city where he cannot speak the language, and his anxiety and obsessive-compulsive habits immediately become difficult to manage. His luggage is also missing, and he considers returning home almost as soon as he arrives. To stop him from giving up, Poppy books him a private tour of the Great Wall.
